It's a Flower Pot

Ha! I bet you're expecting to see more Flower Soft, huh? Nope not on this project . . .

What I used:

Mini Petal Pot
Snow Cap Adirondack Paint
Cloudy Blue Adirondack Paint
VersaMark Ink
White Embossing Powder
Owl Christmas Stamp set by Hero Arts
Onyx Black VersaFine ink
Bamboo Leaves Memento ink
Ladybug Memento Ink
Brilliant White and Black cardstock by Prism
Zip Dry Glue
Scalloped Rectangle, Rectangle, & Circle Nesties
Scalloped Circle Punches
Fine Tip Black Pen
Foam Tape
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Bamboo Skewers
Uncooked Rice

Paint the Petal Pot:

Step 1 - Dab Snow Cap paint onto Petal Pot; just kinda dab it around . . . I didn't totally coat it. Allow to dry.
Step 2 - Using a bristle brush, apply a coat of Cloudy Blue paint over the dabbed Snow Cap paint.
Step 3 - Use a damp paper towel to blot some of the excess Cloudy Blue paint. This will allow the Snow Cap paint 'peek' through and add some texture. Allow to dry.
Step 4 - Randomly stamp snowflakes using VersaMark ink and emboss with White powder.
Step 5 - Repeat Steps 1 - 4 on the other side of the Petal Pot

Note: The Petal Pots come flat. For best results, paint and emboss one side at a time.

Create the "Flowers":

Step 1 - Punch five circles and one rectangle from Brilliant White Cardstock. Punch two scalloped rectangles from Black cardstock. I used Nestabilites for this step.
Step 2 - Punch nine scalloped circles from Black cardstock. I used jumbo, super jumbo and mega punches for this step.
Step 3 - Stamp Top Hat Owl using Onyx Black ink onto one of the bigger Brilliant White circles; set aside to dry.
Step 4 - Stamp sentiments on the remaining circles and rectangle; adhere to coordinating scalloped circles and scalloped rectangle.
Step 5 - Using Zip Dry Glue, adhere bamboo skewers to the back side of the Sentiment Circles and Rectangle. Set aside to dry.
Step 6 - Once the glue is dry, cover the bamboo skewers by adhering the remaining scalloped circles and scalloped rectangle. I just used double-sided tape for this step.
Step 7 - Color Top Hat Owl using colored pencils. Doodle a border with a fine tip black pen. Adhere to coordinating black scalloped circle. Attach to Petal Pot using foam tape.
Step 8 - Open the Petal Pot so it sits properly. Add a tad bit of Zip Dry Glue around the bottom edges.

Note: I applied the glue on the inside of the Petal Pot to keep the rice from falling through.

Step 9 - Fill Petal Pot about 2/3 full with uncooked rice (you can use pinto beans or coffee beans, too). Arrange "flowers" as desired.

Ta-da! All done!

Make Some Creepy Cupcakes!

Okey dokey . . . here's the tutorial to create the Creepy Cupcakes.

What you will need:

1 can of Great Stuff (see pic below)
1 Cupcake Pan (that you will NEVER bake in again)
Paper Cupcake Liners
Adirondack Acrylic Paint (I used Sunset Orange, Citrus, Purple Twilight, and Pitch Black)
Chunky Glitter
Mod Podge (I used Gloss Lustre)
Bristle Paintbrushes
Various Embellies (Sequins, Buttons, Spider Rings, Google Eyes, etc.)

Great Stuff comes in a can. You can purchase it at your local home improvement store. Here's what it looks like:

Step 1 - Line cupcake pan with liners

Step 2 - Fill cupcake liners about 1/3 of the way with Great Stuff (be sure you don't over fill . . .yes, that would be experience talking). In the picture below, the Great Stuff has already started to expand.

Step 3 - Allow Great Stuff to set. About an hour or two. You'll know they're ready to decorate once the Great Stuff is no longer sticky. This is what they look like once they're set.

Step 4 - Paint away! No trick to this step, other than use a brush instead of the Dabber top. Some colors may require two coats.

Step 5 - After the paint has dried throughly, apply a generous coat of Mod Podge. (I used a bristle brush, but you could also use a Foam Brush). Sprinkle Glitter over the top while the Mod Podge is still wet.

Step 6 - Once the Mod Podge has dried thoroughly, decorate your cupcakes with embellishments. I found that Golden Gel Medium and Zip Dry Glue worked the best.

Step 7 - Enjoy looking at your cupcakes . . .but please don't eat them, and keep them out of reach of pets and small children.

Hocus Pocus!

OH my! The new images from Lockhart are sooooooo cute! Just look at this:

And this:
I never imagined a witch would have to do laundry . . . I assumed there would be a spell for that!

*samples courtesy of Lockhart Stamp Co.

I know, I know . . . I haven't blogged in a while . . . still having stuff done around the house. And I usually don't post this type of thing here, but I LOVE our new windows! And I LOVE the new tile in the Master Bath.

So, here are a few pics of the new tile, which still needs to be grouted (and I didn't set the "white balance" on the camera, so of course the colors aren't exact).

One thing we really like about the border is the little pieces of tumbled stone. . .and the swirl, of course!

HA! Custom built cubbies for shampoo! The pieces of wood are there to hold the top tiles in place while the mortar dries.

The floor is done in a diamond pattern.

Hmmm . . .it's difficult to take pictures of a bathroom (especially because this one is soooooo tiny!) . . . but here's one standing back looking in from the bedroom. The tile was taken all the way to the ceiling and the recessed lighting is also new.

Thanks for visiting today! Have a beautiful day!
